Office: Council Representative
Personal Statement of Harry C. Linneman, Ph.D.
It has been my privilege to represent the New Mexico Psychological Association on the APA Counsel of Representatives since 2016. My current term will expire at the end of 2018, and I am asking for the support of all NMPA members to continue in this role for another three years. Although some members in New Mexico and in other state associations have expressed concern that APA no longer serves their personal interests and have discontinued their memberships, I continue to believe that strong professional associations at both the state and national level are vital to the ongoing strength and stability of Psychology as a field. APA COR has faced many significant challenges during the years I have served, including the increasing participation of minority Psychologists and the roles Psychologists play in the military and in defining immigration policy. I expect several other major issues to be on the table in the next three years. Not the least of these is the organization of APA itself, as well as establishing a clear definition for the essential training of master’s level clinicians using the title of Psychologist, and getting Psychologists specifically included in the Physician definition for CMS. I would like to continue to serve NMPA as Counsel Representative as these and other issues are addressed. I would appreciate the support of all NMPA members in the upcoming election, and as always, I welcome questions and comments from each NMPA member at any time.
