Candidate: Ester Cole, PhD

Office: Council Representative

Candidate Statement:

With the encouragement of OPA and APA members to submit my candidacy for a second term on the Council Of Representatives, it is my honour to do so. I have been an active participant on Council, and served as a member of its Civility Committee. Its research, presentations, and recommendations, were endorsed by over 90% of the representatives. We contributed to the process of changing the culture of communication on Council during a challenging phase in its history. Decision-making in a collaborative manner requires experience, vision, openness, and commitment. My advocacy in multicultural psychology has prepared me for this role. On COR, I continue to share effective practices and knowledge translation from Ontario. The reciprocal communication allows me to share current resources and policies with OPA. I bring to the role a history of leadership positions including : President positions- OPA; Canadian Association of School psychology; CRHSP; Chair- Psychology Foundation of Canada; DRN- Canadian Representative to APA Advisory Committee; CPA Professional Affairs Committee.
