Candidate: Simon Charbonneau, PhD

Office: Council Representative

Candidate Statement:

I have been a member of the board of the Ordre des psychologues du Québec for 5 years and I was president of the Quebec Association of Neuropsychologists for 4 years. I care about both the protection of the public and the development of the many facets of our profession. After being involved in these two instances at the provincial level, I aspire to get involved with the APA by being part of the COR of the APA as representative of Quebec to contribute to the reflections and to the work of the COR. Finally, to summarize my clinical background, I have been a clinical neuropsychologist for 15 years, including the last 10 years in a university hospital where I supervise neurology residents and doctoral students in neuropsychology.

Candidate: Nathalie Girouard, PhD

Office: Council Representative

Candidate Statement:

I am honored to be nominated for the position of Council Representative for l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec. Following my Ph.D., I specialized in the treatment of mental health disorders and challenging behaviors of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and intellectual disabilities. Over the course of my career in various settings, I worked in the field of health psychology with pediatric patients, I supervised the quality of service delivery for mental health professionals and I have managed clinical projects as a clinical advisor.

Since 2011, I have been working as a Quality and practice development advisor at l’Ordre des psychologues du Québec protecting public health interest. I actively contribute in the elaboration of clinical guidelines, as well as position papers that promote accessibility to psychological services. In my advisory function, I support the development of psychologist’s good practice in resolution of complex issues. My acute awareness of member’s concerns is essential to address current clinical and ethical challenges involve in our practice.

I believe that my relational skills, my professional experience and my ability to contextualize how clinical issues can be translated within our current legal legislation are strong assets that would enable me to play an important role within the APA organisation. It would be a great privilege to be elected; my contribution would bring valuable insight on emerging practices, latest scientific findings and clinical guidelines to create new opportunities to bring our professional practice to the highest level.

I hope you will support my candidacy,
