Evidence-Based Practice in Psychology Proposed Policy Statement and Position Paper
The APA Presidential Task Force on Evidence-Based Practice (EBP TF) was appointed by 2005 APA President Ronald F. Levant, Ed.D., MBA, ABPP, and held its first meeting in October 2004. Dr. Levant convened this task force to develop a definition of evidence-based psychological practice that could be widely supported across the many constituencies of APA and could be adopted as APA policy. Once adopted, the policy statement and supporting materials will be utilized to promote sound psychological practice while guarding against misuses of the concept of evidence-based practice in the health care delivery system.
The Proposed Policy Statement and supporting Position Paper were available for public comment and over 200 comments were received by the task force. The task force members are now reviewing every comment and considering how to respond and modify the documents.
